How to Enjoy Your CBD Caramel Edibles & Coconut Oil

Curious about how to dose our Periodic Caramels & other CBD edibles?

CBD edibles are growing in popularity thanks to their long lasting effects and more enjoyable consumption experience compared to CBD tinctures or capsules.

However, knowing how to properly dose your CBD edibles for ideal effects can be a challenge, especially for new CBD users.

Careful dosing for controlled, repeatable effects is key to enjoyable CBD edible experiences.

We created this guide to dosing our 50mg CBD Periodic Caramel edibles - and the many consumption options you have with our CBD edibles & Hemp-Coconut Oil - so you feel confident in every CBD edible consumption session.

CBD Caramel Edible Dosing

Here’s a simple how-to guide for dosing your full Periodic Caramels CBD hemp-butter caramel edibles (approximately 50mg CBD, 2mg THC) into individual doses based on your needs for that CBD consumption session.

Step 1 - Determine your CBD dose for this consumption’s setting & desired effects.

Be sure to pay attention to both CBD & THC concentration in your chosen dose size.

Use our CBD Edible Dosing Guide if you’re completely new to consuming
CBD edibles or aren’t sure where to start on your ideal CBD edible dose.

Step 2 - Pre-score the caramel dose

Before opening your Periodic Caramel, gently press a knife or similar tool into the appropriate Dosing Gauge line(s) to mark each ideal CBD:THC edible dose on your soft caramel.

Step 3 - Complete your Cuts

Open the caramel by removing both the label & wrapper - complete your cut(s) to separate your individual doses.

And you’re done dosing your CBD edible!

Graph 2: Onset & Duration of Cannabinoid Effects in Edibles used Sublingually

Even if you’re eating your CBD caramel dose plain, you still have 2 different consumption methods to choose from: oral or sublingual consumption.

Orally Consuming CBD Edibles

Oral consumption (or simple chew-and-swallow) is the most common method for enjoying edibles.

With an effects onset time of between 20 minutes to up to 2 hours + a long duration of effects between 3 to 6 hours or longer depending on dose (as shown in Graph 1) oral consumption will provide the longest sustained CBD benefits - but requires some patience before full effects are felt.

Sublingual or Buccal CBD Edible Consumption

Sublingual edible consumption is holding your soft edible dose under the tongue and allowing it to dissolve, just as you might with a tincture or lozenge.

Buccal absorption is similar to sublingual, just holding the edible or tincture between the cheek and the gums rather than under the tongue.

Both allow the terpenes & cannabinoids to absorb into the bloodstream bypassing liver metabolism.

Sublingual absorption of cannabinoids and terpenes in our caramel edibles & coconut oil gives a faster onset of effects than oral consumption, usually within 10-20 minutes, but also a shorter duration of less-intense cannabinoid effects.

Many CBD consumers find this method preferable for daytime consumption or microdosing of CBD edibles.

These effects are similar for both CBD & THC when consumed in various edible types, so be sure to consider the effects of any residual THC in your CBD edibles!

Adding CBD to Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Tea or other Beverages

If you want to incorporate CBD into your daily routine in a quick & easy way, try dropping your CBD edible dose into your favorite beverage!

Since Periodic Caramels was born in the Pacific Northwest & operates out of Wisconsin, the team are big fans of adding Active CBD caramels to our morning coffee, or Relax CBD caramels to our nighttime hot chocolate or tea.

Any hot beverage will quickly & easily melt a dose of Periodic Caramel with just a few stirs.

You can also add them to smoothies or other cold drinks! The soft caramels blend easily in a power blender, and can be melted down into a sauce for adding to finished drinks.

Speaking of caramel sauce…why not try some CBD caramel in your next baking experiment?

Read on to the next section for tips & tricks on how to bake with Periodic Caramels CBD edibles!

CBD-infused Caramel Sauce, Baking Recipes & More!

Because Periodic Caramels melt easily thanks to their soft texture, it’s simple to add a caramel or two to a large batch of non-infused caramel sauce (either homemade or store bought) to create CBD-infused caramel sauce for topping desserts, drinks and more.

We recommend adding your Periodic Caramels to your non-infused caramel sauce or a batch of regular caramel candies over a gentle double-boiler in a lightly covered container to avoid intense or rapid heating that might destroy the terpenes & cannabinoids in your edibles.

Just add your Periodic Caramels CBD edibles to your non-infused caramel base, heat gently & stir to create your CBD-infused caramel sauce!

You can also use our CBD caramel edibles in traditional baking recipes like you would regular caramel soft candies.

Be sure to adjust your baking temperature if needed to avoid baking off your cannabinoids and terpenes!

Baking around 300-325 degrees Fahrenheit is usually safest for preserving most volatile terpenes and cannabinoids like CBD & THC.

Try adding small pieces of Periodic Caramels to cookie dough balls, brownies, scones, or other individual baked treats so that you can easily dose control your at-home CBD edibles.

CBD-infused Coconut Oil - Infinite Possibilities

We recently released our full-spectrum hemp-infused coconut oil which allows you to get your CBD in hundreds of flexible ways!
